We could be seen
Grazing

And before that yet?
Our mystery stretched
From Greece to the Black Sea

Glistening in the Sun
Hero’s might have
come upon us
as kings were made

But in truth
the most humble of us
to this day continue
to provide warmth
in the biting hours
before Spring
gifting body and soul
powerful protection
against the blues.
